Carol Costello was born on October 11th, 1961, in Minerva, Ohio. She studied at the Kent State University, earning a BA degree in journalism. Then she started her career as a police and court reporter at Akron. Her following experience included working as an anchor for WSYX, which gained her an Emmy Aard, WBNS 10-TV, and WBAL-TV.
She then started her career in CNN and during the September 11 attacks, she worked as an anchor at CNN Headline News. During her career, she interviewed many politicians and celebrities, such as George H. W. Bush, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, and Jimmy Carter.
She has worked on a number of programs, including CNN Daybreak, American Morning, and The Situation Room. Costello married educator and mathematician Timothy Law Snyder in 2004 and moved from Atlanta to New York at first, later she resided in Baltimore, Maryland, with her husband Timothy Law Snyder who she married in 2004.
