Daniel Boulud was born on March 25th, 1955, in Saint-Pierre-de-Chandieu, France. When he was only fifteen years old, he appeared as a finalist in the Best Culinary Apprentice competition. Before he moved to NYC, he worked with chefs like Michel Guérard, Georges Blanc and Roger Vergé.

Since 1986, Boulud worked as the Executive Chef at Le Cirque for six years. In 1993, he opened his first own restaurant named Daniel which was later re-launched under the name Café Boulud and followed by many successful restaurants in next years.

Boulud has appeared on television in many occasions, such as cooking show Great Chefs, TV series Anna & Kristina’s Grocery Bag, and reality competition show Top Chef Canada. He also published several cooking books, including Letters to a Young Chef from 2003 and Daniel: My French Cuisine from 2013.
