Daniel Boulud was born on March 25th, 1955, in Saint-Pierre-de-Chandieu, France. When he was only fifteen years old, he appeared as a finalist in the Best Culinary Apprentice competition. Before he moved to NYC, he worked with chefs like Michel Guérard, Georges Blanc and Roger Vergé.
Since 1986, Boulud worked as the Executive Chef at Le Cirque for six years. In 1993, he opened his first own restaurant named Daniel which was later re-launched under the name Café Boulud and followed by many successful restaurants in next years.
