Estelle Fanta Swaray was born on January 18th, 1980, in Hammersmith, London, to Senegal mother and Caribbean father. She grew up in the environment with only spiritual (gospel) music and traditional African music but she became a hip hop listener when she had the chance. After she was twenty years old, Estelle decided to pursue her music career, starting in London clubs. Her solo debut came in 2003.
