Doug Kalitta was born in August 20th, 1964, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In 1991, he started as a rookie in United States Auto Club. Three years later, he won the sprint car category at the 1994 championship. During his career in USAC, Kalitta won 21 events overall, 7 in sprint and 14 in midget races.
Kalitta joined the National Hot Rod Association in 1998. In the top fuel points, he finished at the second place several times, most recently in 2016. During his NHRA career, Kalitta has achieved 42 victories, including the latest at Atlanta.
