Perry was born March 4, 1950 in Paint Creek, Texas. He earned Bachelor of Science degree in Animal science at the Texas A&M University. During his studies, Rick Perry tried several low-paid jobs, such as a door-to-door book salesman for the Southwestern Company. After graduation, he joined the US Air Force. He left in 1977, after achieving the rank of Captain.
