Oak Ridge Boys originated from the country group Wally Fowler and the Georgia Clodhoppers which was formed in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1943. Later, they changed the name to the Oak Ridge Quartet and decided to focus on their main genre, southern gospel. In 1985, they released debut album titled The Oak Ridge Quartet. In 70s, they switched mainly to country music.

During the many years, Oak Ridge Boys members changed many times. The group released 31 studio albums overall, 14 compilation albums, and one live album in 2014 titled Boys Night Out. They also released 21 music videos.

The Oak Ridge Boys gained a place in the Country Music Hall of Fame in October 2015. The group also won five Grammy Awards during their long career, the latest one was for the Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for their single Elvira in 1982. In 2015, Oak Ridge Boys made a collaboration version of this hit together with a cappella group Home Free. The video has gained more than 5 million views on YouTube as of 2017.
